Milestone Dossiers & Commercial Exposure

The Milestones Workspace (/dashboard/milestones) and Forensic Dossiers (/dashboard/milestones/[id]) provide executive governance over key contractual completion anchors, computing net Liquidated Damages, prolongation site burn, and upstream critical driving chains.

1. Contractual Milestone Classification

Terminal Completion Anchors

The ultimate project finish milestone governed by contractual Taking-Over (TOC) or Substantial Completion certificates.

Example: Commercial Operation Date (COD)
Contractual LD Rate: €35,000 / day
Caps: 10% of total contract value
Sectional Handover Milestones

Intermediate contractual completion stages subject to standalone liquidated damages or access handovers to employer follow-on contractors.

Example: Section 2 - Energization of Substation
Sectional LD Rate: €15,000 / day
Trigger: Third-party utility interconnect access

2. Deterministic Financial Exposure Calculation Basis

On capital mega-projects, schedule delay exposes the general contractor to two concurrent liabilities: contractual liquidated damages (LDs) owed to the employer, and daily prolongation site burn (extended plant, supervision, craneage, and site overhead).

The Forge Milestone Exposure Equation
Confirmed Exposure = Contractual LDs + Prolongation Overhead + Confirmed Claims
Where: Prolongation Overhead = Delay Days × Daily Site Burn Rate
Total Exposure = Confirmed Exposure + Potential Range Expected Value
Confirmed Exposure:Real financial liability resulting from already materialized schedule slip past the baseline date.
Potential Risk Drift:Leading risk exposure modeled from pending, unapproved site signals currently in triage.

1

Planned vs. Contemporaneous Forecast Chronology

The dossier displays a side-by-side comparison between the approved CPM baseline finish date and the latest recalculated forecast date, highlighting net schedule slip (e.g. +28d slip) and contractual float consumption.

2

Upstream Driving Predecessor Analysis

Forge performs a reverse topological traversal through the Primavera P6 logic network to pinpoint the exact chain of predecessor activities driving the milestone delay.

Critical Path Driving Predecessors

Each predecessor activity is tagged with its relationship type (FS, SS, FF), lag, and a rounded Pressure Contribution Badge (e.g., +42% pressure).

Schedulers can click any driving predecessor to open its full Activity Forensic Dossier or inspect contemporaneous delay signals linked to that specific activity.

Commercial Exposure & Liquidated Damages Breakdown

The commercial panel breaks down the exact monetary basis:

  • Contractual LD Liability: Delay Days × Contractual LD Rate.
  • Site Prolongation Overhead: Delay Days × Environment Daily Burn Rate.
  • Subcontractor Pass-Through Claims: Confirmed third-party claims linked upstream.

1-Click Acceleration Handoff (⚡ Plan Recovery)

From the top right of the milestone dossier, click "⚡ Plan Recovery (+Xd)".

Instant Bridge to Autonomous Recovery Studio

Forge routes directly into the Autonomous Schedule Recovery Studio (/dashboard/schedule?tab=recovery), pre-populating the target recovery slider with the milestone's slip days.

The engine immediately computes the cheapest acceleration combination across 4 commercial levers (overtime, crew re-sequencing, modular conversion, and fast-track concurrency) and plots the Pareto ROI curve against daily Liquidated Damages.
